Since the full revelation of the Xbox Series S and the next-gen Xbox prices, it has been full steam ahead on social media with rumors, leaks, and speculation in regard to the upcoming Microsoft and Sony consoles. For instance, an apparently previously unknown image of Kratos’ back on Cory Barlog’s Twitter account has led some to wonder if there is going to be information about a God of War sequel released soon. Unsurprisingly, there have been frequent rumors about the successor to the highly popular PS4 title from 2018. God of War 2 for the PS5…it’s a dead cert.
After all the ruckus caused by the revelation of the Xbox Series S, some may have believed that was it for the console reveals from Xbox – both “Anaconda” and “Lockhart” had finally arrived. But Jez Corden from WindowsCentral has shared news about “Edinburgh”, which appears to be related to the next-gen Xbox consoles in some manner. A streaming stick, a controller, a completely digital console, and even a handheld have been suggested as for what the Xbox “Edinburgh” could be, but whatever it is, it seems Microsoft might still have some more surprises coming yet.
One of those surprises is not quite as pleasant as a potentially third console though. An alleged leaked price for the “XBX Seagate 1 TB SSD Expansion” has shown up on Twitter, and it is priced at $219.99. But with a bit of luck, the price will simply be a placeholder, which is commonly used by retailers (like GameStop in this instance) when an official price hasn’t yet been released. It seems unlikely a 1 TB SSD, even for the Xbox Series X, would be not that far in price from a whole Xbox Series S console. The price for this SSD could be in Canadian dollars though, which would be at least more reasonable (CAD$219.99 = US$166).
Lastly, even more spurious dates for a PS5 announcement and PS5 event have been offered. According to this latest comment, there will be an announcement made on Thursday September 10 (07:00 PDT, 10:00 EDT, 15:00 BST, 16:00 CEST, 23:00 JST) and this will supposedly be followed by an event taking place on Monday September 14. To save potential face-palming injuries if Sony doesn’t actually do anything on these dates, keep in mind that this same social media resident has a habit of using “TBC” as a disclaimer, so hope for the best (an actual PlayStation 5 event) and prepare for the worst (more waiting).
