Nioh and Nioh 2 will be making their way to PlayStation 5 on 5th February 2021 by way of The Nioh Collection that remasters both titles with 4K support and up to 120 frames-per-second. Each game will be bundled with all of its DLC and owners of the second entry in the series will be able to get a free upgrade. Each remaster will be available for purchase separately or as part of the full Nioh Collection to mark the franchise's fourth anniversary.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, creative director Tom Lee also mentions ultra-fast load times and the ability to transfer your PS4 save as key features for these PS5 versions. Pre-orders for Nioh Remastered, Nioh 2 Remastered, and The Nioh Collection will all go live on the PlayStation Store next week on 20th November 2020. We have to assume there will also be a physical release. The PS5 version will also take advantage of the console's Activities functionality, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, cross-play with PS4 players, and 3D audio.
Lee signs out by thanking the fans for joining Team Ninja on its journey. "On behalf of Team Ninja, I want to express our sincere gratitude for supporting the Nioh series and our team through this long and wonderful ride. As a token of our appreciation, we thought there was no better way to celebrate the Nioh series, one very near and dear to our hearts, than remastering the entire story for both veterans and new players alike to enjoy utilizing the latest hardware."
