A new leak alleges the Samsung Galaxy S21 will have a plastic rear panel - Notebookcheck.net

A new "exclusive" leak from Android Police purports to spill nearly every detail on the upcoming Galaxy S21 line of flagship phones. Then again, it seems to mostly consist of specs alluded to in earlier leaks, such as that its Ultra variant is set to finally support a variable, up-to-120Hz refresh rate at a QHD resolution, thanks to an LTPO panel. Then again, digging into the new leak yields some potential surprises in store for Samsung fans.

This new article outlines the series' screen-sizes for the first time. The S20+'s successor will apparently stick with a 6.7-inch (if FHD+) LTPS display, whereas the S21 Ultra may have a 6.8-inch panel. However, the most interesting design choice may be the mention of an S20 FE-esque plastic back for the base S21.

This oddly sub-premium rumor may mean that Samsung means to refine the S-line offerings in 2021, perhaps distributing cost-effective and premium features across 3 eventual variants. As if to reinforce this impression, the S21 Ultra is the only one to get a new rear camera set-up compared to 2020 in this new report.

This will include the dual zoom lenses hinted at in earlier tips, which may be 3X and 10X respectively. Its 108MP main sensor is also to be of a new generation. The alleged super-flagship is also now to benefit from laser autofocus and 8K/30fps recording.

Finally, Android Police now claims that Samsung has developed a new marketing term for its S21 color-scheme ("Phantom"). This is where the phones' new camera hump/frame hybrid (which this leak also supports) comes in: apparently, it may take on contrasting shades for some of them. For example, "Phantom Violet" may be paired to a copper frame. 

It may be a matter of waiting to see if all these prospects meet with approval from Samsung early-year flagship enthusiasts. These possible Galaxy S21 features have yet to be officially confirmed, however.
