Why your Sky TV box could miss out on one of the biggest updates of the year - Express

Even if you have the latest Sky Q kit, it's also worth noting that HDR is only available if you have a compatible HDR-compatible TV (these are typically at least 4K, but there are exceptions) as well as a Sky Q experience or Ultra HD subscription as part of your monthly bill.

If you tick all of those boxes, you'll be treated to plenty of HDR-ready shows in the coming months. Sky says it will increase the HDR range in 2020, with more Sky Nature shows and Sky originals coming soon.

Just in time for Christmas, a selection of the blockbuster movies on Sky Cinema will also be available in HDR. This upgrade will also launch on third-party apps over the coming months, including Disney+ and Netflix.
