Microsoft confirms its latest Windows 10 update has another serious problem - Express

The latest update was pushed out to users earlier this month and it's not having a very happy to start to its life. Ever since it launched complaints have flooded in about a huge array of issues including some PCs seeing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death and others suffering from broken audio. Microsoft says it's looking into these problems and has asked users to report anything they spot using the keyboard shortcut Windows + F or go to the Start menu and select Feedback Hub so that they can investigate.

Although Mircosoft is still trying to confirm some of the issues mentioned above they have officially announced that KB4556799 has a serious problem which they are now rushing to fix.

It seems once this update is installed it appears to break the web connection for anyone using an LTE-style modem. To make matters worse, no error message appears on affected PCs making users believe they are still connected to the web.

Explaining more, Microsoft confirmed: "After installing this update on a Windows 10 device with a wireless wide area network (WWAN) LTE modem, reaching the internet might not be possible. However, the Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) in the notification area might still indicate that you are connected to the internet."

The Redmond firm says it is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

News of these issues come just as . The May 2020 software is expected to be released in the coming days with a possible launch taking place on May 28.

The May update will bring plenty of nice features to devices including the option to make things passwordless and a new feature that will allow users to change the colour and size of the text cursor indicator.

Cortana sees some of the biggest changes in the May 2020 Update. No longer cooped-up in the taskbar – like in the earliest versions of Windows 10, Cortana can now be moved and resized like any other windowed application.

Windows Search has also been improved with it now able to check your spelling mistakes

Some early tests on this new software have also revealed that Microsoft is making changes with the upcoming patch making Windows 10 run faster on some hardware.

Specifically, Microsoft has tweaked how indexing for Windows Search works, which will reduce high disk usage on machines running traditional HDD hard drives.

There's no official word from Microsoft about when the May 2020 update will be released but Express.co.uk will bring you all the news as soon as we hear more.
