Apple will finally announce its highly reported OLED iPad Pro models at its May 7 event. While the iPad Pro models with an OLED display will be the highlight of the event, the company will have additional products in store with some pretty major gains. If you are not familiar, we have curated a list of products that you should be looking forward to on May 7.
What to Expect: Everything Apple will announce at its May 7 'Let Loose' Event
On various occasions, we have reported that Apple failed to release a new iPad last year, and the company's decision was reflected in its annual revenue. However, it was reported that the company will upgrade its entire product line this year, with the iPad Pro and iPad Air being the first ones in the mix. If you are anxiously waiting for Apple's 'Let Loose' event on May 7, Apple will announce these devices to the general public.
New iPad Pro With OLED
The new iPad Pro models will come in two sizes and both of them will house an OLED panel, ending display discrimination between the two variants. The new display is possibly the most exciting part of the upgrade as the OLED panel is slated to be the 'best' panel on a tablet with deeper blacks, higher contrast rations, and better power efficiency. It will also boast 120Hz ProMotion technology.
The iPad Pro will also come with a redesigned chassis and possibly a glass back with MagSafe charging capabilities. We are not familiar with the precise design details but based on recent reports, the OLED iPad Pro could come with slimmer bezels and Face ID in the landscape position. The tablet is also speculated to be a lot thinner than the current models, but the exact dimensions are not known at this point.
Lastly, based on recent and rather strange reports, the OLED iPad Pro will skip the M3 chip and jump directly to the M4 version. The chip will be designed specifically for AI features, which will be coming to the iPad later this year. However, the company could hint at some of the AI capabilities on Tuesday. There is no word what kind of performance gains we should be looking forward to but considering it will be based on TSMC's 3nm process, the M4 chip will deliver enhanced computational and graphical performance.
12.9-Inch iPad Air
Apple will potentially release two models of the iPad Air this year. In terms of design, both models will look identical to the current model, but with some slight variations. For instance, the Face ID sensors and front camera will move to the landscape orientation instead of being on the top.
As for the display, the iPad Air will continue to house LCD panels, despite a brief report on the 12.9-inch model getting a mini-LED upgrade. Later on, the rumors were put to rest by the same source. However, the company could fine-tune the display for better contrast ratio and color accuracy. Other than this, the iPad Air will feature the same design.
Internally, the device will be powered by the M2 chip, which will be a significant upgrade for the iPad Air lineup. The company is aiming to keep the new processors for the 'Pro' models. The devices will also gain support for new accessories that will be announced at the event.
New Apple Pencil
Apple will unveil a new Apple Pencil accessory, specifically designed for the new OLED iPad Pro. The accessory is reported to come with two options for better control. It was discovered in iOS 17.5 beta that the forthcoming Apple Pencil will come with a "squeeze" gesture and support for haptic feedback. Each aspect will allow users to activate different features and switch between them easily.
New Magic Keyboard
Apple will revamp the Magic Keyboard to fit the new dimensions of the iPad Pro and Air models. Additionally, the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro will also come with significant changes with varying hinge levels.
Vision Pro Support
Apple could expand the Vision Pro to more countries at its Let Loose event. The demand for the headset has been stagnant for a while, and it makes sense for Apple to offer the headset in more regions like the UK, China, Canada, and other countries.
Miscellaneous
Apple could also release new Apple Watch bands, iPhone cases, and iPad cases as part of its Spring update. However, we are not familiar if the company will launch the iPhone 15 lineup in new color options. Furthermore, Apple could also release new software updates for the iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, iPad, and Vision Pro. We will be covering the event in extensive detail, so be sure to stick around.
