Gran Turismo 7 Will Automatically Import GT Sport Liveries, Decals, and Sport Mode Ratings - GTPlanet

Polyphony Digital has revealed more information into what player data will transfer from Gran Turismo Sport into Gran Turismo 7, with Sport Mode ratings — Driver and Sportsmanship Ratings — moving across to the new title in addition to user-generated liveries and decals.

GTPlanet first revealed that player liveries would transfer from Sport to 7 following a Q&A session with Kazunori Yamauchi as part of the State of Play event in early February. However, in an announcement on the official game site, Polyphony has provided more information on precisely what will transfer and, importantly, how.

Firstly, the process will be automatic. That will come as great news to players who have a significant number of liveries they wish to transfer, as it means they won’t need to go through their content manually. The process will start on Tuesday, February 15, though the precise time may vary.

There are some specific considerations however. When it comes to uploaded decals, everything in your GT Sport library will transfer to GT7, but only liveries shared as “Open to All” will move across. Furthermore, only liveries created after 0430 on December 22 2017 will transfer. That corresponds to the v1.10 update to Sport, although it’s not entirely clear why.

Once transferred, the liveries will be available under a special “GT Sport Liveries” section of GT Auto, but you might find a few differences in your designs.

The editable areas of vehicles in GT7 may differ from those of GT Sport — such as the ability to place stickers on windows — and the colors might not transfer unless you have enough credits in GT7 to be able to buy the paint in the new title.

Wheels will also not transfer, likely for the same reason although we can’t say for sure. Paint color applied to wheels in your design will transfer — with the same caveat applied — but you’ll probably have to buy the wheels anew in GT7.

That indicates that vehicle paint, most probably the “special colors” in GT Sport, and wheels will be available for individual purchase in GT7 rather than appearing through something like the Mileage Exchange in Sport.

However, you’ll be able to fix any differences that crop up, as PD has also confirmed that you will also be able to edit your Sport liveries in GT7.

In addition, you’ll only be able to see 100 transferred GT Sport car liveries at a time, although all of your relevant designs will transfer. If you delete some of the displayed items, others from outside the 100 will take their place. It’s not clear if this limitation will apply to helmet and suit liveries, which also transfer.

One thing that won’t transfer though is any likes associated to your content, or any comments from other players.

Interestingly, you’ll be able to continue using your liveries in GT Sport after the transfer, and PD notes that the transfer data will update “at regular intervals”. That likely means you’ll be able to continue making liveries in Sport and have them transfer to 7 automatically, which is the first suggestion we’ve had that GT Sport could continue for a short while once GT7 comes out.

Along with your created content, your Sport Mode stats will transition to GT7, starting on February 15. That means that any accumulated Driver Rating and Sportsmanship Rating will move to the new title ready for the new season of online racing.

While that means you’ll be starting GT7 with your ratings from GT Sport intact, any progress made in Sport after Tuesday February 15 will not count towards your GT7 ratings. That could mean that the current set of GT Sport Daily Races are the last that will take place in GT Sport, although as the current “Road to GT7” online championship runs until February 26 it may just be the case that new races will take place and not affect your GT7 progress.

No other GT Sport save data will transition to GT7, so players looking forward to keeping hold of their car collection and bank balance will need to plan for a fresh start along with everyone else!
