Your Sky Q box has an exciting hidden trick to try but it only works today - Express

Sky is dishing out some festive treats for anyone with a Sky Q box or new Sky Glass telly installed in their homes. For today only, customers can use a nifty trick to track Santa on their televisions.

To see where he is right now - and how long before he slides down the chimney - simply pick up the Sky remote, press the voice search button and say “Where’s Santa?” or “Where’s Father Christmas?”

A sneak peek of his route will then magically appear on the big screen and an exact location revealed allowing plenty of time to get the mince pies and brandy ready for his arrival. This is the second year running that Sky has joined the Santa tracking revolution with the firm first revealing this Christmassy upgrade last December.

If you are using a remote without voice search, you'll find the Santa Tracker in the Apps section of the Sky menu.

Along with that ability to track Santa, there's another festive thing to try on Sky Q and Sky Glass with customers able to check whether they have been naughty and nice this year.

To get a special message from Santa - simply say “Santa, have I been nice?” or “Santa, have I been naughty?” into your Sky TV remote and Father Christmas will reveal all. Let's hope you've been nice or else there might not be any gifts under the tree.

Finally, Sky has a host of festive jokes to keep everyone entertained over the holidays.

Just grab the remote and say “Santa, tell me a joke” to hear some classic Christmas crackers.

Of course, these aren't the only tricks you can perform by barking orders into your Sky remote.

Using this channel changer you can now search for a specific show, actor, movie or sporting event. For example, you can say "Game of Thrones" or "Show films with Tom Cruise."

If you want to change the channel quickly you can simply say its name such as "Go to Sky Max" or "Go to BBC1."

Play, pause, rewind and fast forward is also available via voice controls and you can even skip by a set amount of time - just say "Skip twenty minutes."

Favourite apps such as Spotify and Disney+ can also be launched and you can change accessibility settings by saying "Turn on subtitles."

Speaking to TVs to ask for channels to be changed or shows paused has boomed in popularity with Sky saying that millions of requests are made each year via its voice search technology.

Adblock test (Why?)
