Sky is hoping to do for television what Apple did for the mobile phone with the launch of Sky Glass, a new internet-powered TV that promises to declutter your living room.
The pay-TV broadcaster unveiled Sky Glass this morning at an event that borrowed a trick or two from Steve Jobs’s famous Apple product launches.
Dana Strong, the Sky chief executive, pulled the curtain back on the ultra-HD television, which ditches both a satellite and set-top box. Users just need to plug it in, connect it to the wifi and take their place on the sofa. “No dish, no box, no fuss,” was her tagline.
The innovation comes as Sky seeks to stop declines in its customer base. The company’s “total customer relationships”
