WhatsApp will stop working for millions of smartphone users at the beginning of September.
The platform, which is owned by Facebook, is removing support for a number of old iPhone and Android models.
This means that from November 1 many will be left without the popular app which offers free picture sharing across the world.

What should you do if you have one of these phones?
Sadly if you want to continue using WhatsApp, you may need to consider upgrading your phone.
However, if you're holding off buying a new phone and want to save your chat history there is a way of doing it.
You can back up your message history to Google Drive or iCloud depending on which platform you use (iOS or Android).
Alternatively, you can export your chat history as an email attachment.
If you have a younger phone but are running it on outdated software, now is probably a good time to update your phone.
To do so, you need to look in the general settings to download and install the upgrade.
It is ideal to have WiFi enabled when doing so unless you are ok with using your phone data, but if it is a large download then it could be costly.
If your phone is too old to update the software then you may want to think about upgrading to a newer model in order to continue to use the app.
WhatsApp has lost a lot of users over the last year due to ongoing privacy concerns around its new terms of service.
WhatsApp has traditionally marketed itself on offering secure, encrypted messaging, but announced wildly unpopular changes to the way it handles user data.
These changes would have seen user data handed to private companies to aid in marketing.
WhatsApp U-turned drastically on the plans following a major backlash which has seen competitors Telegram surpass one billion downloads.

It seems big tech companies are closing in on anyone who doesn't want to buy the latest kit every year.
