Horse riding has always been a passion for Camille Crissin. Her family owned a pony when she was growing up in Brittany and she had lessons at the local riding school. “He was black and his name was Bouboule, which means fatty in French,” she said.
When she moved to the UK eight years ago, Crissin, now 29 and living in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, tried to continue her hobby, but has found the cost too much to justify. “For a 45-minute private lesson they are charging £85, which is much higher than I used to pay. If you go once a week, you end up with a huge bill at the end of the month, which I just can’t afford.”
