NVIDIA officially launches the first RTX 40 SUPER GPU, the RTX 4070 SUPER

NVIDIA has dropped the sales embargo on its latest graphics card, the RTX 4070 SUPER, priced at $600. The key upgrade lies in the AD104 graphics processor, featuring a 20% increase in cores compared to the non-SUPER variant. Worth noting, the RTX 4070 SUPER doesn’t replace the existing model; instead, the original card is seeing a price drop to $549.
Under the hood, the RTX 4070 SUPER packs an AD104-350 GPU with 7168 CUDA cores, a bump of 1280 cores from the RTX 4070. Maintaining the 12GB GDDR6X memory configuration at 21 Gbps, the card’s base clock gets a modest boost to 1980 MHz, while the boost clock remains at 2475 MHz. TDP stands at 220W by default, a detail shared across most budget-friendly models.
Performance-wise, the RTX 4070 SUPER shows a 12% to 14% improvement over the RTX 4070 in gaming tests, with actual numbers varying based on resolution and the specific game title. NVIDIA’s official claim of a 200W power requirement during gaming holds up in general, although individual titles might influence the accuracy of this figure.
