Apple has killed off the iPod after more than 20 years on the market.
The most recent version — the iPod Touch — has not been updated since 2019 and many of its features are now available on other Apple devices and services. The company said that it would continue to sell the Touch “while supplies last”.
When it was introduced by Steve Jobs, the late Apple co-founder, in 2001, the iPod was the first MP3 player that could hold 1,000 songs and it came with a ten-hour battery life.

The original version weighed 6.5 ounces (184g). It had a white face and polished steel frame, and came with earbuds in a custom “moon grey” colour. The screen was black and white.
