If you happen to have a Galaxy 20, S20+ or S20 Ultra tucked inside your pocket you might want to consider selling it sooner rather than later. Samsung is poised to unleash its next generation of devices on the world with its latest Unpacked event taking place tomorrow, Thursday, January 14. Although not yet confirmed, it seems almost certain that the S20 will be replaced by a newer, faster and much-improved Galaxy S21.
So why should that launch affect owners of the current S20 you may ask?
Well, if previous years are anything to go by, as soon as this next-generation Samsung model is revealed, older devices – including the Galaxy S20 range – could lose a vast amount of their re-sale price. If you take a look back in time you'll see that most Galaxy devices plummeted in value soon after the newer model arrived in stores.
For example, when Samsung's 2019 Galaxy S10 arrived on the scene, trade-in prices for the S9 began to take a serious hit with prices instantly dropping by around £50.
The same then happened to the Galaxy S10 when the S20 arrived last February and there's nothing to suggest that history won't repeat itself once fans get their first glimpse of the new S21.

Right now you can get as much as £345 for an S20 in good condition with prices averaging out at around £300.
If you are thinking of upgrading to the S21 then you might find waiting a few weeks before making the decision will see these values drop.
Of course, it's worth remembering that Samsung is likely to run numerous promotions for fans wanting to buy the S21 which might include free gifts when you pre-order and the option to hand over your current device for money off the latest model.
Hopefully, more will be revealed tomorrow but keep an eye on those trade-in deals as you might find yourself out of pocket if wait too long.
There's certainly an exciting few days ahead for those that love a Galaxy device. If you want to hear all the news from Unpacked then the event gets underway tomorrow, January 14, with things expected to start at around 3pm GMT.
Rumours suggest that three devices will be revealed by Samsung including an S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra with all of these phones getting faster processors, longer battery life and improved cameras.
The most premium S21 Ultra may also be compatible with the S Pen stylus something that's usually exclusive to the Note range of phones.
