Acer is offering an all-AMD Aspire 5 powered by AMD Ryzen 5000U APUs. The Aspire 5 is aimed at students, hobbyists, and bloggers and features the Radeon RX 640 dGPU for light graphic workloads.

Apart from the Aspire 7 and the Nitro 5 powered by new AMD Ryzen 5000 APUs, Acer is also introducing the Aspire 5 upgraded with AMD internals.

Acer didn't elaborate too much about the Aspire 5. However, we do get to know that AMD's latest Ryzen 5000U APUs will feature in this thin and light laptop. Interesting, Acer has chosen to go with a Radeon RX 640 for the graphics component. We haven't seen the RX 640 often save for the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 and the ThinkPad E14 last year.

In our tests, we found the RX 640 slower than a GeForce MX150, so this GPU can only aid in very light graphics workloads. Accordingly, Acer is advocating the Aspire 5 for students, bloggers, and hobby photographers.

The Aspire 5 can be configured with up to 1 TB of NVMe or 2 TB of HDD storage. The device comes with an FHD 15.6-inch IPS display with Acer BlueLight Shield to filter harmful blue light emissions. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity comes as standard.

The Acer Aspire 5 (A515-45 G/S) is expected to be available from April with prices starting from €499.
