- HMD Global has announced the Nokia 5.4.
- It packs a Snapdragon 662, 48MP rear camera, and a 4,000mAh battery.
- The Nokia 5.4 will be available in Europe from €189.
HMD Global’s latest mid-range Nokia smartphone is hitting Europe. Dubbed the Nokia 5.4, the phone features stylings inspired by the Nokia 8.3 with a price that should appease budget-conscious buyers.
Aiding that low price is a 6.39-inch 1,520 x 720 display with noticeable bezels. The Nokia moniker remains a prominent feature on the phone’s chin, while a punch hole for the 16MP selfie camera in the top-left also features.
That said, it’s by no means an ugly smartphone. Colorways include a purple Dusk variant or a dark blue Polar Night option. Nokia’s new circular rear camera array is a landmark at the rear above a capacitive fingerprint sensor and another vertical logo.
Internally, HMD Global’s going with the 4G-capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset — silicon you’ll also find in the Poco M3 and the Moto G9 series — partnered with 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage. A 4,000mAh battery powers the lot and can be charged at 10W speeds via the USB-C port.
For imaging, the Nokia 5.4 is headlined by a 48MP rear snapper joined by a 5MP ultrawide snapper, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
HMD Global mentions the Nokia 5.4 is “ready” for Android 11, suggesting that it will launch with Android 10. The phone will get three years of security updates from the company, though.
Nokia 5.4: Price and availability
The mid-ranger is set to launch in Europe later this month from €189 (~$229). Three configurations will be on offer, namely a 4GB RAM/64GB storage option, a 4GB/128GB version, and a 6GB/64GB model.
It’s possible that HMD Global will also launch the phone in India and other regions, but no availability info is available for these areas just yet.
