Since we’ve got less than a week before Samsung’s 2019 Galaxy Note 10 lineup is official, it’s a given fact that specifications for the devices are now set in stone. Samsung should launch at least two devices this year, namely the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus. Additionally, a 5G Note 10 variant has also surfaced on the FCC, so we might get lucky and witness three new phablets from the Korean tech giant later this year. Now, we’ve made a short list of the Galaxy Note 10 Plus’ specifications, and briefly compared these to the Galaxy Note 9 and Apple’s iPhone XS Max’s paramters. Take a look below for more details.
Galaxy Note 10 Plus Vs Note 9 & iPhone XS Max: Pre-Launch Specs Comparison Shows Several Upgrades
Samsung’s biggest change on the Note 10 lineup will be with the gadgets’ design. The Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will be starkly different from their predecessor, as they’ll feature a triple rear camera setup with the sensors stacked vertically and a new laser-drilled display with the front camera cutout in the top-center.
These changes will make for a true generational upgrade on the lineup, as opposed to the mere cosmetic changes that Samsung’s been making on the gadgets recently. Now, with the Note 10 phablets, we’ll get to see several changes. Here’s how they will compare to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 and Apple’s iPhone XS Max.
Performance: Snapdragon 855, Exynos 9825 Vs The Apple A12 And Snapdragon 845:
For its processor, the American variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855. While there’s a small chance of the binned Snapdragon 855+ making it on the gadget, right now, we’d advise you to err on the side of caution. The Snapdragon 855 has three core clusters, differing from the 845’s big LITTLE approach. It’s got a single Kryo 485 Gold ‘Prime’ core that’s a Cortex A76 derivative and clocked at 2.84GHz. Three Kryo 485 Gold cores clocked at 2.48GHz and four Kryo 485 Silver cores clocked at 1.8GHz supplement the Kryo Prime core on the Snapdragon 855.
Apple’s A12 SoC and CPU for the iPhone XS Max, on the other hand, has a maximum clock frequency of 2.49GHz. The A12 has a hexa-core CPU consisting of 2x Vortex and 4x Tempest cores. It consistently outperforms the Snapdragon 855 in GeekBench multi-core and single-core tests. The A12 also naturally beats the Galaxy Note 9’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, since the latter uses an older microarchitecture. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 10 Plus will have a big advantage over Apple’s gadgets though, as the device is expected to feature 12GB of RAM.
We’ve also seen reports claim consistently that the international Note 10 phablets will come bearing Samsung’s 7nm Exynos 9825 – a chip that’s fabricated with Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography. Performance details for the SoC are unknown, but it should modestly improve performance/power consumption over its predecessor, the Exynos 9820.
Camera: A Triple Camera Setup Feature A 12MP Primary Camera Lens Vs Dual Cameras For The iPhone XS Max And Galaxy Note 9:
For its rear camera, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will carry the S10 lineup’s primary 12MP sensor manufactured by Samsung. The Samsung S5K2L4 has 76 mm focal length and a 70° field of view, and the S10’s lens supports two apertures. Whether August’s phablets will also feature the S10’s wide-angle and telephoto lenses isn’t known with surety. Leaks, however, suggest that the Note 10 Plus’ Telephoto lens will capture 12 million pixels and have a f/2.2 aperture lens.
Samsung might also introduce new software magic for the Note devices’ camera performance. For starters, the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus might allow users to focus the devices’ attention on the audio coming from a single source during video recording. Additionally, the Note 10 Plus might also feature a ToF sensor. As opposed to the report for audio zooming, a ToF sensor for the 6.7″ phablet has been mentioned by several sources.

How do these related to last year’s iPhones XS from Apple, and Galaxy Note 9 from Samsung? Well, the iPhone XS and XS Max have identical camera specifications. They’ve got a dual-camera setup consisting of a Telephoto and a Wide-angle lens. The wide-angle lens is larger than the iPhone X’s and has a 12MP resolution with an f/1.8 aperture lens. The telephoto lens also has a 12MP resolution with a f/2.4 lens. Looking at the specs, it’s clear that the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will have better cameras than the iPhone. Apple, however, will make up for this through the upcoming iPhone 11 launch.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a dual rear camera setup consisting of a wide-angle and a telephoto lens. Both have 12MP resolutions, and their focal lengths of 26mm for the wide-angle and 52mm for the telephoto fall in line with the lenses’ viewing angles. Like the S10, the Note 9’s wide-angle lens also has two aperture settings of f/1.5 and f/2.4. In that vein, it’s rumored that the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will let users choose from three aperture settings instead of the two present on the S10.
For the front camera, whispers from Samsung’s supply chain suggest that we’ll be treated to a 10MP Dual Pixel lens with HDR10+ support and an f/2.2 lens. Sketchy details also suggest that we might get night mode for photographs, and ‘Voice Control’ on the front camera, with Samsung, also placing a ToF sensor on the front of the phablet. Render and image leaks, however, disagree with the claim for the ToF sensor.
Design, Price And Storage Configuration: Samsung To Break Precedent By Setting Starting STorage As 256GB For The Galaxy Note 10 Phablets
One of the more interesting rumors for the Galaxy Note 10 lineup that has made several rounds suggests that the phablets will start with 256GB internal storage. European and Korean price leaks for upcoming phablets show slightly increases starting prices, but at this point, we can’t point you at a specific figure. Given that both the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will come packed with high-end hardware, don’t expect them to be easy on the pocket.
Design wise, this year’s Note phablets will differ signifcantly from their predecessors. Live images for the Note 10 Plus have leaked profusely over the course of the past couple of months. These, and alleged renders for. the phablets strongly suggest that we’ll get vertically stacked rear cameras and a single cutout for the front camera sensor. Color options for the phablets will include gradiated finishes, and their new displays will let Samsung reduce chin height to a bare minimun. Finally, the 3.5mm earphone jack will not make it on the 2019 Galaxy Note lineup.
